Psalm 39: verse 4 –“Lord remind me how brief my time on earth will be Remind me that my days are numbered”
Most people waited with bated breath for the ringing in of the New Year 2013. There was excitement and euphoria in the air, in fact an expectant urgency of a magical new year. Excitement, that at the strike of the clock each person alive would get 352 days or 8,448 hours or 506,880 minutes deposited into their life account. How much of it is ours we do not know!! All we know is that we need to make the most of that precious time.
Our time here on earth is brief, and each moment has potential. It is only when we view time through God’s eyes that we can truly understand how precious a gift is every minute that we exist. Do we make the most of our numbered days or is time an empty commodity? In the Bible it says “this is the day the Lord has made, I will rejoice and be glad in it.” Are we glad? Are we using that precious time wisely? Each one of us is accountable for our own time, for each one of us gets an equal amount from our very fair God.
Time is life and life is built up of memories. Memories of family and friends, memories of job well done. Memories of serving others for in serving others, we are serving God. What a great gift God has given us, the gift of time. Let us not pass through time, without leaving worthy evidence of our existence.
Prayer
Dear God, thank you for the gift of time. Grant me the wisdom to see time as a valuable asset entrusted to me. Help me to use my time wisely. Bless my days so that my spirit will be full of joy. Amen
