Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it spring the issues of life.” Proverbs 4 verse 23.
Our heart pumps on an average 72 times per minute .It is the size of our closed fist and weighs around 11 ounces. A healthy heart pumps about 2, 000 gallons of blood through 60,000 miles of blood vessels every day. Every day the heart creates enough energy to drive a truck for 20 miles. The heart is one of the most important organs of our body. We need to take great care of our heart, if we don’t then the arteries harden and get blocked, clean fresh blood cannot pass through and the quality of our life is reduced. In fact we can suffer heart attack and die.
In the Bible when GOD talks about heart, it represents the centre of our emotions, thinking and reasoning. It means our subconscious mind, or our very being. So when we read proverbs 4: verses 20-27 “pay attention to what I say, listen to my words. Remember them & keep them in your heart. They will give life & health to anyone who understands them. Be careful how you think; your life is shaped by your thoughts. Never say anything that is not true.” It makes a lot of sense. Taking time to read GOD’S word and abiding by it can save us a lifetime of misery .We need to take time to change, renew and rejuvenate our spiritual heart, so that it may not harden. Remember every time we neglect or do not pay attention to God’s word , our heart gets harder and harder until it can hear no more .We may not notice the consequences of neglect straight away, but over time, it may give us a spiritual heart attack
Prayer
Thank you GOD for your word and your love. Help me to remain steadfast to your word .Renew my strength, my heart and my mind every day. Grant me the serenity to grow more like you day by day.
Thought for the month
Our heart (subconscious mind) is like a garden, we harvest what we plant.
